LBU

LBU is a tool I wrote some time ago to execute a series of commands on a group of computers. Unfortunately I wrote then while i was still in school and had no idea what a “decent user interface” was. Further it was stronly geared twords the environment i was working in, which was a school comptuer lab. However these things dont make it unuseable, just ugly.

Instructions

Ok so here is the basic idea. You give LBU a list of computers through the “computer List” tab. These can be added one by one by just typing the name into the “Prefix:” text box. Or they can be added in a group if they end in a number by putting the prefix in the “Prefix:” text box and then putting a lower number range and a top number range and then pressing add.

Next you choose a command that you wish to run on each computer in the list on the “Command List” page. Alot of the available commands are wmi based. However the easiest case is to just create a batch file and use the batch file command. Click on “Batch File” in the command list. Then type in a path to the batch file. LBU will call the batch file one time for each computer in the Computer List passing in the name of the computer as a paramter. Now just press run and away it goes. Most of the commands have some basic instructions on their use.
